Mother's Day Is Everyday... Helen Freeman raises 10 children with faith and love

Married for 43 years, Helen and her husband Gregg have 10 children, between the ages 20 and 41. Two of their children still live in the Verde Valley. The others are either away at college or in other parts of the country, building families of their own.

Day in the Life of ... C.J. Bast, fifth-grader at American Heritage Academy

Eleven-year-old C.J. Bast says his teacher is "one of the best." Bast, a fifth-grade student at American Heritage Academy, is talking about Gala Little. "She's always trying to help you," Bast says of his teacher. "She never tries to discourage you. She always pushes you to do your best.

On March 14th, Summer Breeze, a Senior at American Heritage Academy will be awarded the Verde Pride Student of the Year award for her efforts that have made a positive impact on the community and set an exemplary role model for others.

American Heritage students give back to community

American Heritage Academy's "Giving Back" program continues the spirit of giving throughout the year. AHA students in Cottonwood donate an hour of class time each week to local nonprofit organizations including; Red Rock Rehab, The Central Arizona Food Bank, Buena Vista Bright Futures and The A.R.C.

Mandy LaBrie, Staffing Director, and Kathy LaPort, Activities Director, at Red Rock Care and Rehab in Cottonwood said that AHA students visit with their senior residence, assist with social activities, birthday celebrations and other events.

My Brother's Voice - Holocaust Survivor and Author Stephan Nasser Speaks at AHA

Stephen "Pista" Nasser was thirteen years old when the Nazis whisked him and his entire family away from Hungary to the terrors Auschwitz and Muhldorf concentration camps. He was the only survivor from a family of 21.
